On May 24, 2026, Haskell County Deputies responded to a reported motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle that struck a fence post while traveling on Road 30 in Sublette. Once on scene, deputies observed a pickup completely lodged into the post and one individual attempting to dislodge the vehicle. Upon contact with the individual, who would not comply with request for identification or their name, deputies detained the individual and a second patrol unit arrived on scene to assist with investigation. Deputies then conducted an inventory vehicle search and identified the individual as Robert Buyers. After completion of the search, Buyers was transported to the Haskell County Jail where he was booked and processed for the following violations:
• Obtaining an outstanding warrant issued by Finney County
• Criminal possession of weapon by felon; unknown circumstance
• Interference with law enforcement officer; unknown circumstance; misdemeanor
• Possession of marijuana
• Criminal damage to property; value unknown
• Operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance
• Operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license
• Vehicles; unlawful acts; e.g. registration not assigned to vehicle
• Vehicles; display plate not assigned to vehicle
• Duty of driver to report upon damaging unattended vehicle/property
