Liberal Wrestling Club Heads to Texas

 

On Saturday, April 18, Liberal Wrestling Club traveled to Borger, Texas for the Victoria Memorial Wrestling Tournament. The team was represented by six members of the team.

The day started with Greco. Marco Jimenez took 3rd with 2 pins. AC Gomez took 1st with 1 tech fall.

“Both wrestlers represented Liberal and Kansas well. They both are growing quickly in their abilities, Coach Krista Holcomb said.

Following Greco, all six of the wrestlers hit the mat.

Results are as follows:

Dominic Zuniga, 1st, 1 pin and 1 tech fall

AC Gomez, 1st, 1 tech fall

Marco Jimenez, DNP, 1 tech fall

Bryan Portillo, 2nd, 1 pin

Gustavo Sosa, DNP, 1 tech fall

Isaac Torres, 2nd, 1 pin

“Many of our wrestlers have not wrestled Freestyle and Greco before this season. We have a few, like AC, that prefer and excel at these styles. I am so proud of all of them for going out and trying something new or returning to something that they love, ” Holcomb said.

Liberal Wrestling Club will travel to Maize on April 25 for Gold Rush with State the following week in Topek
