Liberal Wrestling Club Attends H-Town Throwdown

Hugoton Wrestling Club hosted the H-Town Throwdown on Saturday, February 24.
Liberal Wrestling Club took 29 wrestlers to this tournament.

Juan Mata is always up for a challenge. He took first at this tournament and wrestled up
in age. “Juan is always ready to wrestle. This week he wrestled in the 12U age division when he
is typically a 10U wrestler and he won with pins. He is a strong kid that is ready to take on most
challenges!” Coach Krista Holcomb said.

Iovani Chavez, first year wrestler, and Jayden Heronemus also took first at this
tournament.

6U: Loukas Henry, 2nd; Griffin Duer, 5h; Zaidyn Gomez, 4th; Victor Zuniga, 6th; Baxter
Williams, 5th; and Sebastian Fletcher, 3rd.

8U: Matheo Ortiz, 4th; Dominic Zuniga, 2nd; Jeremiah Robertson, 3rd; and Natthius
Fletcher, 4th.

10U: Ian Holcomb, 3rd

12U: Joshua Robertson, 2nd; Imauri Eikenberry, 3rd; Alex Rodriguez, 5th; Elias
Holcomb, 2nd; Landon Flores, 6th; Eli Garibay, 2nd; and Esteban Gomez, 2nd.

14U: Denzel Rodrigo, 5th

6U Girls: Lorelai McKim, 4th; Genesis Gardea, 3rd

8U Girls: Alyvia Holcomb, 2nd; and Eva Duer, 3rd.

10U Girls: Sofia Torres, 2nd; and Addy Gomez, 2nd

12U Girls: Kaylene Robertson, 4th

Liberal Wrestling Club will travel to Hays on Saturday, March 2 for the District 4
competition. Anyone who places in the top 4 will advance to State in Topeka March 8-10.
