Playing for the first time in nine days, the Liberal girls soccer team defeated Wichita Classical 4-2 Saturday afternoon at the Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex.  The Lady Red started slowly on offense as they were working against the south wind in the first half.  Johanna Ortuno scored with 25 seconds left to tie the score 1-1.  That was the halftime score.  Ashley Carrillo scored with 23:41 left on a penalty kick for the 2-1 lead.  Valeria Gonzalez scored with 7:24 left off the post and then kicked it in for the 3-1 lead.  Classical scored to make it 3-2 with 5:12 left.  Carrillo’s corner kick to Jasmine Hernandez made it 4-2 Liberal.

LHS is 6-5 overall.  Liberal plays Wichita East Monday to begin play in the Wichita North Cup.
