Liberal Softball Wraps Up Regular Season with a Sweep

The Liberal softball team wrapped up their regular season on a high not with a sweep over the Dodge City Red Demons Thursday afternoon and evening at the National Beef Sports Complex.  LHS won 7-2 and 11-1.

Liberal rallied to win game one.  The Demons scored two in the first.  LHS scored one in the first inning.  LHS took the lead with a two run third.  LHS added four in the fifth.  Liberal out-hit Dodge 9-4.  Dodge had four errors and LHS had one.  Haiden Lyon, Devaney Carter, and Miley Janko had two hits a piece.  Janko had a triple and a double with three RBI’s.  Haiden Lyon and Brooklyn Short hit triples.  Devaney Carter added a double.  Haiden Lyon pitched all six innings allowing one earned run with five strikeouts and two walks.

In game two, Liberal scored one in the first, three in the second, three in the third, and four in the fourth.  Devaney Carter was 2-3 with two doubles and four RBI’s.  Devaney pitched all five innings with seven strikeouts and she did not allow an earned run.

Dodge City is 5-21 overall and 0-12 in the WAC.  Liberal is 9-17 and 3-9 in the WAC.
