The Liberal softball team took a pair of run rule wins over the visiting Cimarron Bluejays Thursday afternoon at the National Beef Sports Complex. Liberal win 11-0 in five and 15-5 in six innings.
In game one, Liberal scored two in the first, and three in each of the next three innings. Haiden Lyon worked all five innings spinning a one hitter at the Bluejays. She had five strikeouts and two walks. Haiden Lyon, Taylor Harding, Lexi Miller, Devaney Carter, and Brooklyn Short had two hits a piece. Lexi Miller hit a triple. Brooklyn Short, Allie Champion, and Taylor Harding hit doubles.
In game two, LHS scored five in the first and two in the second for a 7-1 lead. Cimarron scored three in the fourth to make it 7-4. LHS scored one in the fourth and three in the fifth to lead 11-4. Cimarron scored a run in the sixth but LHS answered with four to end it. Liberal out-hit Cimarron 10-5. Cimarron committed seven errors and LHS had four errors. Devaney Carter went six innings with four strikeouts and one walk. She allowed two earned runs. Zoey Torres was 3-4 with three RBI’s. Taylor Harding was 2-4 with two runs and two RBI’s. Lexi Miller ripped another triple. Haiden Lyon, McKenna Alexander, and Zoey Torres slugged doubles.
Cimarron is 8-8. Liberal is 7-9 and hosts Southwestern Heights Monday at 4pm at National Beef Sports Complex.
