After trailing game one 6-1, the Liberal softball team rallied to take two over the Cimarron Bluejays on a grey day in Cimarron Thursday. LHS won 12-9 and 13-10.
In game one, the Bluejays led 6-1 after two. LHS scored two in the fourth, two in the fifth, and seven in the sixth. Allie Champion hit a home run and a double going 3-4 with three RBI’s. Haiden Lyon was 4-5 with three runs. Vivi Favila and Brooklyn Short added two hits a piece. Lyon and Rebecca Mclane hit triples. Short and Lyon added doubles. Haiden Lyon allowed three earned runs as LHS had five errors. LHS out-hit Cimarron 13-5.
In game two, the Redskins scored six in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth to lead 11-1. Cimarron scored two in the fourth to make it 11-3. Liberal scored in the fifth for the 12-3 lead. The Bluejays made it interesting with four in the fifth to make the score 12-7. Cimarron scored one in the sixth. Liberal scored a seventh inning run and Cimarron scored three. Both teams had 12 hits. LHS had five errors and Cimarron had two. Allie Champion was 3-5 with two RBI’s and two doubles. Vivi Favila, Brooklyn Short, Miley Janko, and Haiden Lyon had two hits a piece. Haiden Lyon had two doubles and scored three runs. Miley Janko, Rebecca Mclane, and Vivi Favila added doubles.
Cimarron is 14-6. Liberal is 6-12 and plays at Southwestern Heights on Monday.
