A fatality accident occurred at approximately 3:04 am Sunday morning on US Highway 83 near the Liberal Animal Shelter.

A  1999 Ford F150, being driven by Mario Visoso-Garcia, 25, of Liberal, was traveling North on Highway 83 when for an unknown reason, the pickup ramped the East curb and entered a side skid. The vehicle then rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest facing South.

Visosa-Garcia was taken to Southwest Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Elijio Beltran, 22, of Liberal was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, seatbelts were not in use in the vehicle.
