Liberal Fades After First in Loss at Garden City

It was another strong start for the Liberal Redskins followed by a fade to the finish.  Liberal built an early nine point lead but lost 60-47 at Garden City Tuesday night.  Friday they led by 14 but lost by eight to Great Bend.  The Redskins drop their 21st straight WAC game.

Liberal jumped out on GCHS 14-5.  The Redskins led 16-10 after one quarter.  The Buffaloes out scored the Redskins 17-6 in the second quarter.  LHS was 1-7 from the foul line in the first half. The Buffs out paced the Skins 19-9 in the third quarter to lead 46-31 after three.

The Buffaloes buried 10 of 25 three pointers.  Liberal was 2-8 from three and 9-17 from the foul line.  Liberal shot 35 percent from the field.

Zayden Martinez was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 16 points and 15 rebounds.  Brooks Kappelmann added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Garden City is 7-8 and 2-2 in the WAC.  Liberal is 5-11 and 0-4 in the WAC.  Liberal hosts first place Hays Friday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
