Meade native led Eagles to four conference titles in six year
LIBERAL, Kan. – Liberal High School is excited to announce the hiring of Brandt Rogers as the next
head coach of the LHS boys basketball program. He will also serve as a SPED teacher at Liberal High
School.

“The interview team was impressed with Coach Rogers’ knowledge of basketball and his ability to
create strong, hard-working relationships with students and his players,” said Liberal High School
Activities Director, Kerri Miles.

Rogers spent the past six seasons as the head boys basketball coach at Ness City, leading the Eagles to a
combined 93-50 record. Under Rogers, Ness City would win the 2019 2A State Championship followed
by a 3rd place state finish in 2021 after Ness City dropped to a Class 1A D-1 school.

Rogers, a 2008 graduate of Meade High School, is already familiar with the area and LHS, specifically.
“As a southwest Kansas kid, I can remember the pace of play that was associated with Liberal High,”
Rogers said. It is time to get back to that pace.”

During his six seasons at Ness City, Rogers’ Eagles would win four conference titles and in 2019,
Rogers was named Sports In Kansas 2A Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.

“Coach Rogers will be a key addition to the Liberal High School coaching staff. The coaching
experience he has will help build a positive culture for boys basketball at Liberal High School,” Miles
said. Coach Rogers is also a proven winner and I look forward to working with him to help grow the
basketball program.”

Prior to his time at Ness City, Rogers was the head coach at South Central High School in Coldwater,
Kan. from 2014 to 2017. He led the Timberwolves to a 42-24 record and two conference titles in his
three seasons at South Central.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead the boys basketball program at Liberal High
School. My family and I look forward to the opportunities that the community of Liberal has to offer,”
Rogers said
