LHS Girls Tennis Returns Two Starters

Brock Kappelmann - August 26, 2016 3:14 pm

Two starters return for 10th year head coach Bret Irby’s tennis girls at Liberal High School.  Tierra Stoney is back  and Irby believes she can be a state contender.  She will play at number one singles for her senior year.  Valery Esqueda is a junior back as a starter and will begin the season at number two singles.  Liberal will bolstered by sophomore Rebecca Irby who was injured and couldn’t play last year.  She will join Jr. Jadyn Williams in number one singles.  Sophomore Reyna Quinones and Jr. Elizabeth Luebbers will play number two doubles to begin the season.  Irby has 18 out for tennis including several girls soccer players.  Irby is hopeful more will come out when school begins on Monday.  Liberal plays at Blue Bonnet Park’s Rowley Tennis Courts Saturday beginning at 9 against Ashland, Scott City, and Meade.  Irby was guest for the Friday Sportsguys.
