LHS Boys Tennis not Short on Optimism

The 2023 Liberal High School boys tennis team opens with a new look on Thursday. After 11 years as an assistant under coach Bret Irby, David Short enters his first season as head boys tennis coach at LHS. The Redskins have 20 out for tennis and nine of them are freshmen. Liberal opens Thursday at 10am with Meade, Dodge City, and Garden City coming to Blue Bonnet Park in Liberal. The meet was moved up a few hours due to expected high winds and dust later in the day. Senior Hudson Brown and Jr. Danie Nguyen bring back the most experience. To begin the season, here is the boys varsity lineup.
#1 Singles- Jr. Jovanni Garcia
#2 Singles- Jr. Jackson Dodge
#1 Doubles- Sr. Hudson Brown and Jr. Daniel Nguyen
#2 Doubles- So. Parker Brown and So. Emmanuel Garcia
There will be a tennis preview which airs during Sportsguys Thursday morning between 7:35 and 9 on 1270 and 92.3.
