Lewis Leads Liberal Girls Past Garden City

Shamari Lewis scored a career high 26 points as Liberal dominated Garden City 64-28 Tuesday night in the Garden.  Liberal’s defense harassed GCHS into 38 turnovers.  The Lady Red has won 17 of the last 18 against the Lady Buffaloes.

Garden City did not score until there were 50 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter.  LHS led 10-3 after one.  LHS led 17-5 and 31-8 before taking a 31-13 at the half.  The Lady Redskins led 54-20 after three and led 60-20.

Liberal shot 41 percent and made 16-19 at the foul line.  Garden shot 31 percent.  LHS out rebounded GCHS 27-10.

Shamari Lewis was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 26 points and seven rebounds.  Hailey Contreras scored 11.  Kamilah Delgado had 9 points and eight rebounds.

Garden City is 7-8 overall and 0-4 in the WAC.  Liberal is 12-4 overall and 3-1 in the WAC.  Liberal hosts Hays who is 4-0 in the WAC Friday night at 6pm with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
