Last Place Colby Shocks #19 Seward

The last place Colby Trojans shocked the #19 first place Seward County Saints 74-69 Sunday evening in the Colby Events Center.  Colby out rebounded the Saints and SCCC mis fired from the foul line at 11-21.  Seward has lost for eight of the past nine years at Colby.

Colby took a 27-26 lead at halftime.  Colby started strongly in the second half in front of their home crowd taking a 44-35 lead.  Seward went on a 10-3 run to cut the lead to 47-45.  The Trojans reeled off an 11-3 run to lead 59-48 with 3:38 to play.  Colby led 64-52.  The Trojans led 66-55 with 1:06 to play.  A Quincy Kidd Jr. three pointer with 34 seconds remaining made it 68-61.  A Quincy Kidd three pointer made it 70-66 before another three by Kidd made it 72-69 with 3.4 seconds left.  But a pair of free throws gave Colby the 74-69 win.

The Black Hills Energy Player of the Game is Bailey Milligan with a career high 20 points.  Quincy Kidd scored 16 making 5-8 from three point range.  Antonio Williams Jr added 14.

Colby out-rebounded the Saints 32-27.  Seward shot 38 percent from the field going 10-27 from three point range and 11-21 from the foul line.  Colby shot 45 percent from the filed making 39 percent from three at 9-23.  Colby was 17-27 from the foul line.  Colby led points in the paint 22-14.

Colby is 5-15 overall and 3-11 in the Jayhawk.    Seward is 14-6 overall and 9-5 in the Jayhawk.    Seward plays at Coffeyville Wednesday
