Seward County Community College has announced that is has hired Larissa Lujan as the Head Cheer Coach for the Seward County Saints Cheerleading program. Lujan, who has been the head cheer coach at Liberal High School for the last two years, will join the Saints immediately.

” I am very excited to join the SCCC family and lead the cheer program. I have high hopes that we will be able to build the program back up and have a coed team. I am really looking forward to meeting all the future SCCC leaders and work alongside President Bennett and AD Dan Artamenko.”

Before becoming the head coach at Liberal High School, Lujan has a long history in the sport of cheerleading.  She initially began as a cheerleader in middle school under former Seward County Head Coach Scarlette Diseker.  After graduating High School, Lujan joined Seward County where she competed on the Cheer team for two years.  After Seward, she continued her educational career at Kansas State University, majoring in Social Work.  She continues to work in that field, serving as a Social Worker for USD 480 in Liberal.

Athletic Director Dan Artamenko states, “We are excited to bring Larissa on board.  As a former Seward County Saint herself, her pride and tradition for the program are unmatched.  I am excited to support her through her journey as the Head Coach at Seward County.”

The Saints Cheer program will have summer tryouts and clinics, so keep an eye out for further information.  If you are interested in joining the cheer team at Seward, contact Coach Lujan at [email protected] or fill out this form: Cheer Recruits
