Lady Saint Lead Disappears at Coffeyville

The Coffeyville Lady Ravens rallied pas the Seward Lady Saints 58-56 Wednesday night at Nellis Hall in Coffeyville.  Seward led 51-45 with six minutes left in the game before the Lady Ravens finished the game on a 13-5 to beat the Lady Saints for a fifth straight time.  It’s Coffeyville’s fifth straight win over SCCC in Coffeyville.

Coffeyville led 8-7 at the media timeout.  Seward led 17-13 after one quarter.  SCCC led 22-18 and it was 22-22 at the media time out with 4:42 to play in the second quarter.  The Lady Ravens took their biggest lead of 28-23 before leading 28-25 at halftime.  The Lady Ravens took a 32-25 lead early in the third quarter.  CCC led 37-31 at the media timeout with 4:51 to play in the third.  Coffeyville took their biggest lead of eight at 41-33 with 4:15 to play in the third.  The Lady Saints finished the quarter on an 11-2 run to lead 44-43 after three.  The run ballooned to 15-2 as Seward led 48-43.  SCCC led 51-45 with six minutes to play after an A’Neya Chambers three pointer.  Seward did not score for the next four minutes as the Lady Ravens tied the game at 51-51.  A’Neya Chambers hit a three for a 54-51 lead with 1:45 to play.  Seward had the ball with a 54-53 lead but turned the ball over.  A Coffeyville “and one” made it 56-54 CCC with 22 seconds left.  Seward’s ensuing possession resulted in a steal and a layup to put the game away.

The Black Hills Energy Player of the Game is A’Neya Chambers with 12 points and six rebounds on 3-5 shooting.  Avery Marchino scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds.  Destiny Alexander had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Coffeyville won despite shooting 32 percent from the field and 4-27 from three point range.  CCC was 10-15 from the foul line.  Seward shot 36 percent from the field and 7-18 from three.  SCCC was 13-15 from the foul line.  Coffeyville, the Jayhawk’s best rebounding team, out rebounded Seward 42-41.  Seward committed 17 turnovers and Coffeyville had 10.

Coffeyville is 17-4 overall and 11-4 in the KJCCC.  Seward drops their second straight for a second time this season to fall to 14-7 overall and 9-6 in the Jayhawk.    Seward hosts Hutchinson Saturday at 2pm with Saints Shoot-around at 1:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.  Billy’s Ayr Lanes and Arcade is the game sponsor with tickets also available at KSCB and Flooring America and Furniture Outlet.
