Lady Red Softball Splits with Scott City

The Liberal Redskin softball team split with the Scott City Beavers Monday afternoon at the National Beef Sports Complex.  Scott City claimed game one 6-5 in eight innings and the Lady Red took game two 8-4.

In game one, Liberal’s defense let them down committing six errors.  LHS lost despite out-hitting SCHS 11-6.  Scott scored four in the second and LHS plated two in the fourth.  The Beavers scored one in the fifth and LHS scored three so the score was 5-5 after five.  After a scoreless sixth and seventh, the game went into extra innings.  The Beavers scored in the eighth and won 6-5.  Jenna Ormiston pitched eight innings with eight strikeouts, one earned run, and one walk.  Taylor Harding, Jenna Ormiston, and Zoey Torres had two hits a piece.  Jenna Ormiston and Lizzy Mannel both hit triples.

In game two, the Liberal offense was in high gear early scoring three in the first and two in the second to take a 5-0 lead after two.  Scott City plated two in the third and LHS scored one in the fourth to lead 6-1.  Both teams scored two in the sixth.  LHS won despite four more errors but SCHS committed three errors.  LHS out-hit Scott 13-10.  Zoey Torres pitched well going seven innings with eight strikeouts, no walks, and two earned runs.  Offensively, Zoey Torres was 3-4 with a triple.  Taylor Harding, Arianna Hubbard, and Lexi Miller had two hits a piece.  Lexi Miller and Miley Janko drove home two runs a piece.

Scott City is 11-5.  Liberal is 3-11 and hosts Hays Tuesday at 4pm for a double header at the National Beef Sports Complex.
