Lady Red Rings the Bell in WAC Win

The Liberal Lady Redskins held onto the bell.  LHS handled the Dodge City Lady Demons 54-35 Friday night in the Big House.  LHS wins the season’s first installment of the Backyard Battle for the Bell.  Shamari Lewis had 18 points and 18 rebounds in the win.

Liberal bolted out to an 11-4 lead with 2:40 to play in the first quarter.  Liberal led 18-8 after one quarter.  The Lady Redskins led 28-15 and led 29-17 at halftime.  DCHS was 5-26 from the field in the first half.  The Lady Red led 40-23 and led 40-25 after three.

Shamari Lewis was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game with 18 points and 18 rebounds.  Kylie Rhine scored 20 for her second 20 plus scoring game of her career. Maliyah Mullens scored nine.

Liberal forced 21 DCHS turnovers.  LHS out-rebounded DCHS 42-33.  Liberal shot 39 percent from the field and Dodge shot 26 percent.

Dodge City is 5-7 overall and 0-1 in the WAC.  Liberal is 8-2 and 2-1 in the WAC.  LHS plays at Syracuse Saturday night at 6pm central time on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
