The Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets, ranked #23 in NJCAA division 2, took advantage of Seward pitching Tuesday afternoon at Brent Gould Field. With cloud skies and the temperatures in the 40’s, the Jets kept home plate warm in a 22-9 win over the Saints in a seven inning run rule. The Saints walked 18 batters in the loss while Enid walked three.
The Jets scored three in the first and two in the second to lead 5-0. The Saints bats came alive with four in the second to make it 5-4. Enid tacked on two in the third to lead 7-4. The Saints plated three in the third to make it 7-7 after three. The Jets led 8-7 after five, but the Jets broke the game open with five in the sixth and nine in the seventh. The Jets out-hit the Saints 15-10. Juan Alvarez, Gus Eylar, Hayden Ramage, and Jacob Urias had two hits a piece. Ramage and Eylar hit doubles. Seward used six pitcher but none of them found the hot hand on the mound.
Enid is 16-5 and Seward falls to 6-13. The Saints begin Jayhawk Conference play Thursday at 1pm at Lawson-Biggs Field at #23 Barton. The games will air on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
