J. Brooks Kappelmann is Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week

Liberal senior basketball player J. Brooks Kappelmann is this week’s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  Kappelmann leads the Redskins in scoring and rebounding at 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.  Brooks registered a 19 point 23 rebound game at Salina South last Friday.  He was named to the Salina Invitational Tournament All Tournament Team.   His high scoring game was a 26 point game at Valley Center.  He has scored in double digits in nine of the 12 games.  He has four double doubles this season.  Kappelmann was the offensive WAC Player of the Year in football and will represent the West in the Shrine Bowl football game this summer.  He was WAC Player of the Year in baseball.  He is president of the All are Welcome Club which he originated at Eisenhower Middle School.  He is student council senior class vice president.  He was in the fall musical.  He is involved in FCA and a member of NHS.  The Redskins play at Woodward Friday night at 8pm on 1270 and 92.3.
