Hutch Scores Three in the Ninth to Sweep Saints

The Hutchinson Blue Dragons scored three runs in the bottom of the the ninth to sweep Seward Thursday afternoon at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson.  The Blue Dragons won 12-2 in five innings in game one and 4-3 in game two.

In game one, Hutchinson scored three in the first. They got a triple on a ball lost in the sun and there was an error in the inning.  One of the three runs was earned for starter Aldo Ostos.  Hutch added two more in the second.  The Saints plated two in the fourth.  Kaden Juarez and Kotaro Wakui singled.  Mason Gilbert hit a sac fly and Connor Raney singled home a run.  HCC added two in the seven and five in the fifth to end it.  Cameron Cartwright was Epic Touch Player of the game going 2-2.

In game two, Hutchinson scored one in the second.  The Saints broke through with three in the sixth.  Mason Gilbert reached on an errror to begin the inning.  Connor Raney and Nathan Hopkins laid down bunt singles to load the bases with no outs.  Todd Baffa slapped an RBI single to right.  Mason Hagel-Pitt was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  Sergio Castro lofted a sac fly to center for the 3-1 lead.  SCCC led 3-1 going to the bottom of the ninth before the Dragons scored three runs on three hits and an error to win 4-3.  HCC out-hit SCCC 11-6.  Tyler Wilcox was Epic Touch Player of the game going seven innings allowing one run.  Nathan Hopkins and Connor Raney had two hits a piece.

Seward is 18-19 overall and 6-8 in the Jayhawk West.  Hutchinson has won 13 in a row and it 29-8 overall and 15-3 in the KJCCC West.  Seward hosts Hutchinson Saturday at 1pm with the Dugout Show at 12:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
