Hays Takes Round One

The Liberal Bee Jays and Hays Larks are tied for first in the Rocky Mountain League.  That’s after Hays dominated the first of four meetings between the two NBC blue bloods 13-2 Tuesday night at Larks Park in Hays.

The Larks scored one unearned run in the first on one hit and one error.  The Larks broke the game open with five runs with two outs in the second.  Hays scored one unearned run on one hit and one error in the fourth.  Hays scored five runs with five hits in the fifth.  Robert Orr provided a B.J. highlight with a two run home run to right in the sixth.  The Larks scored one in the sixth.

Robert Orr was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 2-4.  Matt Cormier was 2-3.  Luke Steward pitched 3 and 1/3 and Trevor Steele went 2 and 2/3.

Hays is 21-6 overall and 16-4 in the RMBL.  Liberal is 18-4 overall and 16-4 in the league.  The teams meet with first place at stake Wednesday night at 7pm at Larks Park.  Pre-game at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
