Hays Shows Off All the Bells and Whistles

Hays High’s new school and athletic facilities have all the bells and whistles.  And so does the Hays girls basketball team.  After going 22-1 as the state runner up last year, Hays routed Liberal 66-34 Tuesday night at the brand new Hays High School.  The Lady Redskins committed 28 turnovers in the loss.

Hays jumped out to a 17-2 and led 19-4 after one.  Hays led 26-4 as the Lady Red wilted underneath the HHS man-to-man defense.  It was 34-11 Hays at the half.  Liberal outscored Hays 21-16 in the third quarter and trailed 50-32 after three.  It was all Hays in the fourth quarter.

Shamari Lewis was Epic Touch Player of the Game scoring 11 points.  Madysen Hammond scored a season high eight.

Hays improves to 4-0 and 1-0 in the WAC.  Hays wins their 20th in a row in the WAC.  Liberal falls to 3-1 and hosts Wichita North for the home opener in the Big House Friday night at 5:30 with Redskin Pre-game at 5:15 on 1270 and 92.3.
