Haskell County Deputies Make Drug Arrest

On Sunday, April 12, Haskell County Deputies conducted a traffic stop after observing a southbound vehicle traveling 93 mph in a posted 65 mph zone near the intersection of U.S. Highway 83 and County Road 170 in Sublette. Upon contacting the driver, deputies smelled a strong odor emanating from the vehicle, suggesting use of marijuana. Deputies asked the driver, identified as Jabrae Shaw, to perform a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement Test, to which he consented. Once complete, Shaw agreed to perform a Preliminary Breath Test as well. Deputies proceeded to place Shaw under arrest after reviewing the results of each test, searched the vehicle, and collected evidence in correlation to the incident. After completion of the search, deputies transported Shaw to the Haskell County Jail, where he agreed to a Drug Recognition Expert Evaluation conducted by the Kansas Highway Patrol. At the conclusion of the evaluation, a blood draw was requested for further investigation. Shaw consented and was transported to Satanta District Hospital where Medical Lab Personnel drew a blood sample for further analysis. Deputies subsequently transported Shaw back to the Haskell County Jail where he was booked and processed for driving under the influence of drug or combination of drug, possession of marijuana, and use/posses with intent to use paraphernalia into human body.
