Gregg’s Granny Walks Off Neosho

What a way to finish the home season at Brent Gould Field.  Jaxson Gregg lofted a walk off grand slam over the left field wall in the bottom of the ninth to give the Seward County Saints a 21-18 win and a delirious celebration at home plate.  The Saints win their Region 6 series with Neosho 2-0 and advance to the 8 team double elimination portion of the Region 6 Tournament at Eck Stadium in Wichita Wednesday at 1pm.

With the wind howling out and 30-35 miles per hour, Neosho scored four in the first.  Seward plated two as Elijah Bear singled home a run and Mason Hagel-Pitt hit a sac fly.  The Panthers scored two in the second and three in the third for a 9-2 lead.  Seward’s comeback began in the fourth scoring three runs.  Jaxson Gregg singled home two runs and Elijah Bear hit a sac fly to make it 9-5.  The Saints scored four in the fifth to tie it.  Ranse Radtke singled home a run.  Tristan Curless blasted a game tying three run home run to center.  Connor Cox’s two RBI triple in the sixth gave Seward an 11-9 lead.  Mason Hagel-Pitt bounced a single to left in the seventh to extend Seward’s lead to 12-9.  But Neosho rallied with five in the eighth on three home runs to lead 14-12.  The Saints tied it in the bottom of the eighth as Jarron Wilcox homered to center and Tristan Curless hit his second home run of the game and fourth of the series to tie the game at 14-14.  The Panthers blasted four home runs in the ninth to lead 18-14.  Elijah Bear homered to lead off the bottom of the ninth to make it 18-15.  Ranse Radtke’s clutch two out two RBI single made it 18-17.  Jaxson Gregg’s grand slam sailed over the left field wall for the win.

The Saints hit five home runs and Neosho launched nine home runs into the jet stream.  SCCC out hit Neosho 23-23.  Neosho had the game’s only error.  Tristan Curless was 3-4 with two home runs and four RBI’s.  Ranse Radtke had his second straight three hit game going 3-7.  Jaxson Gregg was 3-7 with six RBI’s.  Elijah Bear was 4-5 with a homer and three RBI’s.  Mason Hagel-Pitt was 3-5 with two RBI’s.  Tucker Livermoore was 3-6.

Neosho finishes 33-24 and Seward is 33-24 and advances to Wichita for the first time since 2018.  Seward will play Wednesday at 1pm at Eck Stadium at Wichita State on 1270 and 92.3.
