The Great Bend Panthers dominated a double header day Thursday at the National Beef Sports Complex in Liberal. The Panthers won 9-3 and 12-0.
In game one, Great Bend won 9-3 and out-hit LHS 9-3. LHS had three errors and GBHS had two. It was scoreless until Great Bend scored five in the third and three in the fourth. Great Bend added a sixth inning run to lead 9-0. LHS scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh. Allie Champion had three RBI’s and a double. Brooklyn Short was 1-3 with two runs. Devaney Carter pitched five innings with three strikeouts and no walks and allowed three earned runs.
Game two finished after five innings in a run rule as a lightning storm was bearing down on Liberal. Great Bend out-hit LHS 8-1. LHS had four errors. The Panthers scored four in the second and eight in the third.
Great Bend is 11-0 and 5-0 in the WAC. Liberal is 2-6 and 0-3 in the WAC. Liberal plays at Maize against Maize and McPherson Tuesday.
