Forgan Just Missed Mammoth Upset

KSCB News - December 29, 2010 6:50 am

Forgan missed a last second shot with a chance to tie against the number one team in 6A Tuesday night. Forgan trailed most of the way, but not by much in a 55-52 loss to 6-0 top ranked Muskogee Tuesday night at Tulsa’s Tournament of Champions. Rhett Radcliffe returned from injury and narrowly missed a 22 foot shot to tie the game. Forgan was trying to become the first Class B team to reach that tournament’s semifinals since 1984. Forgan (8-1) led 13-12 after one quarter and trailed 26-21 at halftime. The Bulldogs out scored the Roughers in the second half 31-29. Ryan Radcliffe scored 12 and Rhett Radcliffe added 11. Jake Regier added 10. Shocked Muskogee coach Muskogee coach Terry Scott told the Tulsa World he was impressed by the small Panhandle school. "Instead of focusing on what we did wrong, I would prefer to focus on what Forgan did right," Muskogee coach Terry Scott said. "They were better than I thought. Forgan showed a lot of toughness and stayed calm hanging in there in a tough environment."

Forgan faces third ranked 2A Preston Wednesday at 3:30. Preston lost 68-43 to Tulsa Edison.
