James Fieser had a night.  The sophomore scored 35 points, three of which were free throws with .6 left to send the game to overtime.  But it wasn’t enough as the Woodward Boomers came to the Big House and defeated the Liberal Redskins 92-89 in overtime Tuesday night.

The Redskins jumped out to a 15-9 lead.  But then their defense let them down again allowing multiple lay ups as Woodward rallied to lead 21-19 after one.  Woodward led 42-33 at the half.  The Boomers led 61-49 after three.  Woodward led 76-66 with 2:52 to play.  It was 76-70 with 1:30 to go.  Woodward led 78-72 with 45 seconds left but faltered at the foul line late.  A three point play by James Fieser made it 78-75 with 27.4 seconds left.  Fieser’s three free throws with .6 left tied the score at 80-80.  A Brooks Kappelmann “and 1” gave Liberal the 82-80 lead early in overtime.  But Liberal fouled on the missed free throw as Woodward would go on an 8-0 run to lead 88-82.  Liberal rallied again to make it 90-89 with 5.8 seconds left.  Liberal missed multiple guarded three’s in the closing seconds to lose the game.
