Liberal senior mid distance runner Diego Pavia is this week’s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  Pavia qualified for state in the 400 and the 4×400 relay at Liberal’s 6A regional at Wichita Northwest on Thursday.  He was second in the 400 at 50.04 and teams with Chris Morin, Isaac Castaneda, and Max Holman on a 4×400 relay team which was runner up at 3:28.  Pavia was the WAC champion in the 400 at 49.71.  He has won the WAC two straight years in the 400.  He has made state all four years in track.  He also plays soccer and is a member of NHS.  Pavia and the Redskins compete at state beginning Friday morning at Wichita State.
