Cartwright’s Big Day Helps Saints Sweep Colby

Cameron Cartwright hit five home runs to help the Seward County Saints to a sweep over the Colby Trojans Friday afternoon at Brent Gould Field.  The Saints won the first game 15-5 in six innings and took game two 13-8.

In game one, Colby scored two in the first.  Cameron Cartwright homered to center.  Ranse Radtke laced a double to right center.  Jaxson Gregg doubled him home.  Elijah Bear singled to right to drive home Gregg and give the Saints a 3-2 lead.  Trenton Rowan homered to center to begin the second.  Connor Cox singled.  Cameron Cartwright hit a two run homer to left for the 6-2 lead.  SCCC plated two in the third.  Mason Hagel-Pitt singled.  Elijah Bear doubled.  Jarron Wilcox and Trenton Rowan grounded out to drive home runs.  Seward scored two in the fifth for the 10-2 lead.  Connor Cox tripled.  Cartwright homered to center for his third of  the game.  The Trojans scored three in the sixth.  Elijah Bear singled to lead off the sixth.  Trenton Rowan hit his second homer of the game  to make it 12-5.  Cameron Cartwright singled.  Ranse Radtke doubled.  Tristan Curless ripped a three RBI double to center to score three runs and make it 15-5 and end the game in the sixth.  Brian Luna improves to 7-2.  He pitched six innings striking out 11 with no walks.  Cameron Cartwright was the Epic Touch Player of the Game going 5-5 with three homers and four RBI’s.  Elijah Bear was 4-4.  Trenton Rowan was 2-4 with two homers.  Seward out-hit Colby 18-6.

Seward used the big inning to build a big lead in game two.  They scored two in the first.  Cameron Cartwright lined a home run over the right field wall.  Elijah Bear singled home a run.  The Saints scored seven in the third.  Colby was sloppy in the inning committing four errors and hitting to Saints hitters.  Cameron Cartwright homered to center.  The Saints took a 10-0 lead with a run in the fourth.  Jordan Crowder singled home a run.  Colby scored two in the fifth and six in the sixth.  Cartwright had two hits and two home runs driving home four.  Connor Cox had two hits.  Aidan Moore pitched seven strong innings allowing two runs with five strikeouts and one walk.  TJ Newman pitched 1 and 1/3 scoreless.

Colby falls to 10-28 overall and 4-14 in the Jayhawk West.  The Saints are 23-21 overall and 13-9 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward plays at Colby Sunday at 1pm with pre-game at 12:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
