On Saturday, November 29, Liberal Wrestling Club had 10 wrestlers compete at
Panhandle Nationals in Amarillo, TX. There were wrestlers from multiple states including
Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado and more. Over 100 teams were
represented. Liberal Wrestling Club placed 25th as a team with only 10 competitors while other
teams in the top 25 had 20-50 wrestlers competing.
“It was a long day of wrestling. The first session started at 7:50 AM and the second
session did not end until after midnight. Luckily, LWC finished up around 10 PM. Our wrestlers
performed so well and I am so proud of what we accomplished while we were there,
” Coach
Krista Holcomb said.
Liberal Wrestling Club had 3 first place finishes. For wrestlers competing in Open and
Girls, the prize to take home was a belt. Claiming our first belt was Kendall Mosttler with 2 pins
for the day. Mosttler wrestled up in weight with both of the wrestlers weighing much more than
she did. Easton Lopez claimed the second belt for the team, which makes this 2 belts he has
earned in the last year. Lopez had a lot of tough competition and ended his day with 1 pin, 1
tech fall and a major decision. Bringing home the third belt for the team was Jason Fraire who
finished his day with 2 quick pins.
Other results are as follows:
Nathan Boese, DNP
Jacobie Fraire, 2nd, 1 pin
Alyvia Holcomb, 3rd, 2 pins
Ian Holcomb, 6th
Alain Perez, 6th
Haley Zabel, 2nd, 2 pins
Emanuel Zetino, 6th, 1 pin
Liberal Wrestling Club will travel to Pratt for their next tournament on December 13
