Bee Jays Win Hays Series

The Liberal Bee Jays won the Hays series with their 6-3 win over the Larks Thursday night at Brent Gould Field.  Liberal is 3-1 with 12 Jayhawk West games to go in the KCLB.

The Bee Jays received another solid start.  Payton Strambler went six strong innings allowing three runs.  Trey Goodrich pitched two scoreless innings in relief and Jake Reed closed it out for the save with a scoreless ninth.

The Bee Jays scored four in the bottom of the third.  Tristan Stacy singled.  Jordan Williams singled.  Stacy stole third.  Aiden Shepardson singled home a run.  A Hays error allowed two runs to score on a bouncer to third which Hays missed before the ball struck third base allowing two to score.  Trevor MacDonald singled home a run for the 4-0 lead.  The Larks scored one in the fourth and two in the sixth.  Aiden Sherpardson singled home two more runs in the sixth for the 6-3 lead.  Shepardson finished 8-16 in the series.  Liberal out-hit Hays 9-7.

The Bee Jays are 12-5  and 11-5 in the KCLB with a 3-1 Jayhawk West record.  Hays is 14-4, 13-3, and 5-3.  Liberal has Friday off and will play the Dodge City A’s Saturday night at 7 at Brent Gould Field with the Dugout Show at 6:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.  Southern Pioneer Electric is the buyout sponsor and will give away BJ hats and water. Liberal Recreation teams will run the bases during the game.   The Bee Jays will host a free youth clinic Saturday morning at 10 at Brent Gould Field.
