Bee Jays Lose Lead in 1st Loss at Dodge City

The Liberal Bee Jays were on the wrong end of the scoreboard for the first time in 2026.  The Dodge City A’s rallied past the Liberal Bee Jays 11-7 Monday night at Cavalier Field in Dodge City.  Liberal built a 6-2 lead in this non league game.

Liberal scored one in the second and three in the third to lead 4-0.  DC plated two in the third.  Liberal scored five in the fifth to lead 6-2.  The A’s rallied late with four in the sixth, one in the seventh, and four in the eighth.  Dodge out-hit Liberal 12-11.  Liberal had three errors and Dodge had one.   Adam Swanson, Cooper Kardokus, and Drew Gartman had two hits a piece.  On the mound, Preston Roberge started and went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts and one walk.  Braxton Trenkle worked 2 and 1/3 innings and did not allow an earned run.  Josiah Rojas went 2/3 scoreless.

Dodge City is 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain.  The Bee Jays are 2-1 but still 2-0 in the Rocky Mountain League.  The Bee Jays host the Boulder 64’s Wednesday night at 7pm with pre-game at 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
