Bee Jays Begin Road Trip with Win in Fort Collins

The Liberal Bee Jays began their four game Colorado road trip Wednesday night at City Park in Fort Collins.  The Jays topped the Fort Collins Foxes 10-7.  Liberal built an 8-3 lead in the win.

Fort Collins hit a home run in the bottom of the third for the 1-0 lead.  Liberal answered with a four run fourth.  Drew Gartman lined a single up the middle.  Cole Manuel hit a two run home run to right field.  Ben Finnegan singled and Trenton Uyeda singled him home.  Uyeda stole second and Jhett Huffman rolled an RBI single through the right side.  Liberal scored one in the fifth despite loading the bases with no outs.  Cole Manuel singled home a run for the 5-1 lead. Fort Collins came back with two unearned in the fifth to make it 5-3.  Liberal answered with a three run sixth for the 8-3 lead.  Cade Adams whistled a double to right to lead off the inning.  Trent Uyeda singled to right.  Adams scored on a passed ball.  Seth Green launched a two run home run to right for the 8-3 lead.  Fort Collins scored a run in the sixth.  The Foxes plated two more in the seventh to make it 8-6.  The Bee Jays added two in the eighth to lead 10-6.  Seth Green doubled and Will Bologna singled him home.  Drew Gartman reached on an error but drove home the 10th run.  The Foxes scored one in the eighth.  Liberal out-hit the Foxes 13-11.  Both teams had two errors.

Brooks Kappelmann went four strong innings allowing one run with seven strikeouts and two walks.  Seth Green and Cole Manuel both went 2-4 with home runs.  Cade Adams and Trenton Uyeda added two hits.

The Foxes are 8-4 overall and 1-2 in the Rocky Mountain.  Liberal is 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Rocky Mountain.  Liberal plays at Boulder Tuesday night at 7 central time on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
