Wagenseller qualifies for STATE!

The tough Southwind Golf Course in Garden City proved to be every bit of that and more, as the afternoon winds kicked up. Only six scores were posted under 100 – an indication of how difficult the course was playing. Senior Ashlynn Wagenseller fought through those conditions and continued her steady play for the Angry Red by posting a score of 106 – good for 9th place individually. In doing so, Wagenseller qualified for the KSHSAA 6A State Girls Golf Tournament to be held next Monday and Tuesday at Salina Municipal Golf Course.

The format for the Regional Tournament and qualifying for State is that the top four teams at each of the three regional tournaments will qualify for State. In addition to those teams, the next six best scores individually also qualify.

Ryann Warren, a Senior from Garden City, was the medalist shooting a score of 82, leading her team to the Regional Title. The other three teams to qualify from the Garden City Regional were Dodge City, Wichita-Haysville Campus, and Wichita North.

Garden City – 414
Dodge City – 432
Haysville Campus – 444
Wichita North – 449
Derby – 475
