Adan Mata is Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week

Liberal senior football player Adan Mata is this week’s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  Mata’s interception and 38 yard return for a touchdown turned the momentum in Liberal’s favor in their opener.  His pick six tied last Friday’s game at Holcomb 14-14.  Liberal would go on to win 23-17 at Holcomb.  He also had six tackles in the contest.  Mata also plays basketball and baseball and is on the staff for the yearbook at LHS.   Mata and the Redskins host Emporia Friday night at 7pm at the Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex.  The game airs on 1270 and 92.3.
