A Clean Sweep for Seward Softball

The Seward softball team won all four of their games over Lamar to begin the season.  Seward took two Saturday in Lamar 11-3 and 5-1.  The Saints were dominant at French Family Field in Liberal on Sunday winning 10-2 and 11-2.

Saturday in the season opener, Seward used a five run fifth to break a 2-2 tie.  Kate Perez, Taylor Harding, Mya Van Der Mey, and Jewell Carleton had two hits a piece.  Grace Horne pitched the distance for the win.

The Saints struck late in game two as well with one in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth.  Mya Van Der MEy and Ella Doxey had two hits a piece.  Aaliyah Arredondo went 4 and 2/3 for the win.  Liberty Sharman worked 2 and 1/3 for the save.

Sunday in Liberal, the Lady Saints were dominant by a combined 21-4.  In game one, SCCC plated three in the first, two in the second, one in the third, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth to end it in a run rule.  Seward out-hit LCC 11-3.  Taylor Harding was 3-3.  Emily Lane and Mya Van Der Mey had two hits a piece.  Liberty Sharman got the win in the circle going four innings.  Kaitlyn Gonzales worked two scoreless innings.

In game two, Seward scored four in the second and three in the third to lead 7-2 after three. The Lady Saints scored four in the fifth for the run rule.  Taylor Harding, Jewell Carleto, Emily Lane, and Kate Perez had two hits a piece.  Grace Horne pitched three innings.  Liberty Sharman went two scoreless.

Seward is 4-0 and plays at North Central Texas on Friday and Murray State on Saturday.
