The Seward County Saints committed 30 turnovers in an 88-69 loss to the Cowley Tigers Saturday afternoon at Scott Auditorium in Ark City. The Tigers led points off turnovers 43-5.
The Saints built an early 15-11 lead. Cowley led 43-41 at halftime. But SCCC coughed up 20 second half turnovers on the way to the loss. The Tigers led by as many as 22. The Saints actually shot 54 percent and made 6-15 from three point range in the loss. SCCC was 11-19 at the free throw line. Cowley shot 47 percent from the field and made 7-23 from three. The Tigers were 23-31 at the foul line. The Saints out-rebounded the Tigers 35-24.
Trayon Grant-Foster scored 18 in the loss. Benni Kazadi had 13 points and eight rebound to be Epic Touch Player of the Game.
Cowley is 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the KJCCC. Seward is 1-6 and 0-2 in the Jayhawk. The Saints host Butler Tuesday night at 7:30 on 107.5. Great Western Dining is the buyout sponsor with tickets at Great Western Dining at SCCC and the North Hutch’s.
