A Blowout Win and One Run Loss for Saints

On a cold day at Brent Gould Field, the Saints were hot and cold.  The Saints throttled the Dodge City Conquistadors 16-2 in game one but led a 5-1 lead slip and lost game two 7-6 for a split in the four game series.

Game one was moved up one day due to the forecast of rain on Friday night at Saturday.  The Saints came out ready to swing the bats scoring three in the first, three in the second, seven in the third, and three in the fourth.  The Saints had seven extra base hits. The game went 1 hour 34 minutes in a five inning run rule.  The Saints out-hit the Conqs 17-7.  Hayden Ramage, Grant Cox, and Isai Santaella had three hits a piece.  Ramage had four RBI’s and a triple.  Diego Munoz and Blaine Chancy added two hits a piece.  Ashton Creighton went all five innings for the win.  He allowed two earned runs and did not issue a walk.

The Saints started strongly in game two leading 4-1 after two innings and leading 5-1 after five.  But the Conqs scored three in the sixth and three in the seventh to take the lead 7-5.  The Saints scored one in the ninth.  DC3 out-hit the Saints 12-9.  Beau Lang gave the Saints a strong start going five innings allowing one earned run.  The SCCC bullpen struggled after Lang.  Cooper Turner calmed the waters a bit going four innings with three strikeouts, no walks, and one earned run.  Hayden Ramage and Diego Munoz had two hits a piece.

Dodge City is 16-25 and 5-15 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward is 21-25 overall and 13-7 in the Jayhawk West.  The Saints host Hutchinson Thursday at 1pm with Saints Dugout Show at 12:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
