KSCB News - July 19, 2010 12:00 am

The 12-year old Cimarron River Rattlers won the Cal Ripken League Kansas State Championship on Monday afternoon with a 6-5 comeback victory over Emporia.

The Rattlers trailed the whole game until Timothy Fitzgerald hit a walk-off two-run homer over the fence to give Liberal the victory. It was Fitzgerald’s second home run of the game, as he hit a solo shot earlier in the game. Fitzgerald finished with four at the state tournament.

Liberal advances on to the Midwest Plains Regional in Lamar, Colorado, which begins Friday, July 30.
