Saints Snap Streaks at Hutchinson

After dropping four straight games and losing six straight against Hutchinson, the Seward County Saints rose up.  The Hutchinson Blue Dragons claimed game one 4-2 but Seward run ruled Hutch 13-3 in game two Thursday afternoon at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson.

In game one, Seward had one bad inning.  Starter Brian Luna was sharp the rest of the afternoon.  But in the second after the Saints failed to put away a pop up several feet away from the left handed hitter’s batter’s box, the Blue Dragons scored four runs on four hits.  Luna hit two and walked to in the regrettable inning.  The Saints scored a run in the fourth when Tristan Curless singled home a run.  Trenton Rowan doubled in the seventh and scored on Connor Cox’s double off the right field wall.  Seward had runners on second and third with one out trailing 4-2.  But the last two Saints hitters struck out.  Brian Luna pitched all six innings. Cameron Cartwright had two hits.

Seward scored one in the first.  Cameron Cartwright and Ranse Radtke singled and Elijah Bear singled home a run.  Seward scored two in the second.  Trenton Rowan singled and Connor Cox doubled down the left field line to score a run.  Cameron Cartwright singled home a run for the 3-0 lead.   Hutch scored a run in the second.  The Saints scored two in the second to lead 5-1.  Elijah Bear singled and Tristan Curless doubled.  Jordan Crowder lined a single to center to score two to lead 5-1.  Ranse Radtke singled to lead off the fourth and would score on a Jordan Crowder ground out to lead 6-1.  Hutchinson scored two in the fifth to make it 6-3.  Ranse Radtke led off the sixth with a single and stole second.  Jaxson Gregg and Tristan Curless walked.  Jordan Crowder drove home a run on a bouncer down third and an error allowed a second run to score for the 8-3 lead in the sixth.  Seward scored five in the eighth.  Tristan Curless led off with a single and stole second.  Jordan Crowder walked.  Trenton Rowan doubled home a run.  Connor Cox singled home two.  Curless walked with the bases loaded.  Aidan Moore pitched six strong innings with four strikeouts and no walks.  Ranse Radtke was 4-6.  Connor Cox and Cameron Cartwright had three hits a piece.  Jordan Crowder drove home four runs.  The Saints out hit Hutch 17-8.  That’s the most hits the Dragons have allowed this season.

Hutchinson is 15-12 overall and 6-4 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward is 13-18 overall and 4-6 in the KJCCC West.  Seward hosts Hutchinson Saturday at 1pm with Saints Dugout Show at 12:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
