Thursday night was a rough road outing for the Warriors football team as both 7th and 8th grades fell to Comanche Middle School in Dodge.

The 7th grade team was the better team in the game, but a few costly mistakes earned them their first loss of the season by a score of 24-18.  Kye Morris caught two touchdown passes from Ethan Olmstead of 55 and 45 yards.  Ethan passed for over 150 yards yards, 2 Touchdowns against one Interception.  Landry Fitzgerald and Zayden Norez combined for over 125 yards on the ground.  Defensively, Oskar Rosales forced a fumble that was recovered by Manuel Rodriquez.  The 7th grade team is still in position to win the MS WAC title with wins in their final 3 games.

The 8th grade team played as hard as they could despite missing several starters, but they fell 34-0 as they were simply outmatched by the Coyotes who were at full strength.  There were some bright spots in the game.  Jaime Navarrete made an impressive diving catch for an interception, Wyatt Manel had several breathtaking scrambles from the Quarterback position.  Ismael Calderon forced and recovered a fumble.  Both teams cleared their benches for the 4th.  During the 4th Rylin Roehr called the most EPIC timeout anyone has ever called after the officials accidentally took away his 1st career rushing touchdown with an accidental whistle.

Thursday, September 29th the EMS Warriors play host to a very solid Horace Good Middle School from Garden City at 4PM.  The 7th grade team will be trying to get back into 1st place in the MSWAC with the 8th grade trying to get their first win of the season.  Both squads have a lot on the line this week and could really use the support.  Come out and cheer them on, let’s cover the stands in green.
