Liberal Goes to the Glass in Guymon

The Liberal Lady Redskins out rebounded the Guymon Lady Tigers 33-23 on the way to a hard fought 56-43 win at Guymon Tuesday night.  Liberal led by just two at the end of three but out scored Guymon 17-6 in the fourth quarter.

Guymon came out ready to play in front of a spirited home crowd.  Guymon led 15-6.  The Lady Red rallied but the Lady Tigers led 15-13 after one.  Liberal finally grabbed a lead at 22-21.  LHS led 30-22 before Guymon rallied to cut the lead to three at 30-27.  Liberal finished the half on a 5-0 run to lead 35-27 at halftime.  Guymon out paced the Lady Redskins 10-2 in the third quarter as LHS took a 39-37 lead after three quarters.  The LHS lead ballooned to nine at 48-39 with 4:30 to play.  Liberal’s biggest lead was 14 at 54-40.

Ashley Carrillo had 21 points, seven assists, and three steals to lead LHS.  Bree Horyna added 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Hailey Contreras had 11.  After making 9-18 from three point range in the first half, Liberal was 10-29 for the night from three.  Liberal shot 33 percent and Guymon shot 38 percent.  Guymon was 14-27 at the free throw line and Liberal was 10-12.  Liberal only had nine turnovers.

Liberal wins their 12th straight against Guymon and is 12-3 overall.  Guymon is 11-7.  Liberal plays at Hooker Friday at about 6:30 on 1270, 92.3, and the KSCB and The Legend App.
