Rebounding the Difference in Redskin Loss to Garden City

Garden City pounded the glass to dominate Liberal 58-37 Tuesday night in the Big House.  The Redskins struggled to pull down defensive rebounds giving Garden City second chances all night long.

It was a close game in the first half as the Buffaloes led 14-10 after one quarter.  The Redskins cut the lead to 23-21 but the Buffaloes finished the half on a 9-0 run to lead Liberal 32-21 at halftime.  Garden out scored Liberal 16-7 in the third quarter to lead 48-28 after three.  Garden City led 54-28 on the way to a 58-37 win over Liberal who loses third straight.

Izzy Rotolo led the Redskins with eight points.

Liberal is 2-5 and 0-3 in the WAC while Garden City is 5-4 and 1-1 in the WAC.  The Buffaloes win in Liberal for the first time since 2019. Liberal hosts #4 Dodge City Friday night at about 7:45 on 1270, 92.3, and the KSCB and The Legend App.

Liberal Redskins Junior varsity hosted a Garden City Buffalo’s on Tuesday and fell 66-52. The Redskins dug a big hole early trailing by 25 at halftime. They came alive in the fourth quarter and had cut the lead all the way down to 11 before the end of the game. Kentrail Fletcher was the star of the game scoring 22 points with seven offensive rebounds six defensive rebounds and six assists. Zayden Martinez contributed a double double as well scored 12 points and having 12 rebounds. The Redskins JV will play next at home on Friday against the Dodge City Red Demons.
