Josh Arafol Signs at Neosho

Liberal track and field athlete Josh Arafol has signed to compete in the track and field program at Neosho Community College in Chanute.  Arafol announced his decision on Twitter Thursday night.

“I am excited to announce that I will be attending Neosho Community College to further my education and athletic career,” Arafol said on Twitter.  “I want to thank may amazing family for supporting me every step of the way.  Thank all the amazing coaches for guiding me to become a better athlete and human being.  Thank you to all my friends and teammates for always pushing me to never settle for average.  Go Panthers.”

Arafol was all WAC and made state all three years in track.  Obviously his senior year was cut off due to the coronavirus. Josh scored in three events at the state meet and competed in eight events at state in three years.   Arafol was all state in the 4×400 his freshman and sophomore seasons and the 4×800 his sophomore year.  During his junior year of 2019, Arafol was the WAC champ in 400 and took second at regionals.  He was on a 4×400 team that took third in the regional and qualified for state.  During his sophomore season, Arafol was on a 4×100 relay team which won the WAC and a 4×400 team which was second in the WAC, won the regional, and placed third at state.  He placed second in the 800 in 2018 at the regional meet.  He was on a 4×800 relay team which was second at the regional and also made state and scored placing 8th.  During his freshman season of 2017, Arafol was on a 4×400 relay team which won the WAC, won the regional, and placed third at state.  He was 2nd in the 800 in the WAC and third at the regional to make state.  Arafol was on a 4×100 relay team which was second in the WAC and third at the regional to make state.

Arafol’s PR’s are a 100 in 11.57, a 200 in 23.32, 300 hurdles in 41.32, 400 in 51.61, and the 800 in 2:00.
