Liberal Takes Two at Home Over Elkhart

The Liberal softball team improves to 8-8 with a pair of home wins Friday afternoon and evening at the National Beef Family Sports Complex.  Liberal won 8-7 and 8-6.

In game one, Elkhart plated three in the first to lead.  But the Redskins scored two in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.  LHS won despite nine errors but out-hit the Wildcats 12-8.  Reagan Watt, Eyleen Vasquez, Mikayla Zapien, Abigail Zepeda, and Kaeleah Chaloupek had two hits a piece.  Chaloupek got the win in the circle.

In game two, LHS scored five in the first inning.  Elkhart countered with five in the third.  LHS scored single runs in the third and fourth.  Elkhart made it 7-6 with a run in the fifth but LHS scored in the bottom of the sixth to lead 8-6.  Zepeda was 2-3 with two RBI’s.  Chaloupek got the win.

Liberal is 8-8 and hosts Hays on Tuesday at 4 at the National Beef Family Sports Complex.
