LHS Volleyball Shocks Garden City and Takes 2nd in WAC

In a week in which the LHS girls golf team won their regional and the LHS girls cross country team won the WAC, Liberal’s volleyball team took a swing at a WAC title.  Liberal beat Garden City for the first time in seven years and went 3-1 at the WAC Tournament in Hays on Saturday.

LHS began the day with a loss to Great Bend 21-25, 26-24, 24-26.  LHS led 24-20 in the final set before Great Bend rallied.  Liberal beat Dodge City 25-16, 25-16.  LHS defeated Garden City 25-20, 20-25, 25-23.  The Redskins took down Hays 25-22, 25-22.  After tie breakers, Garden City won the WAC followed by second play Liberal, third place Great Bend, fourth place Hays, and last place Dodge City.  Liberal is 16-14.  They compete at sub state at Ark City on Saturday.
