Tyrone Aims to Turn Around Program in 2014

KSCB News - August 14, 2014 1:55 pm

After going 6-4, 5-5, and 6-4 the previous three seasons, the Tyrone Bobcats took a step back last year. The young Bobcats were green in more ways than the school colors. THS slumped to 2-8 last year after losing 10 seniors from the 2012 team. The Bobcats were competitive more often than not losing four games by 12 or less.

This year the Bobcats remain young with just one senior. They have 15 out for football at the Class C school. Five starters return on both sides of the ball for 12th year head coach Josh Bell. Key Bobcats include Sr. RB-WR/DT Gage Schoolcraft, Jr. RB/CB Ryan Reese, So. QB/CB Tanner Hurst, So. DE/TE Willie Slater, So. TE/S Austin Olson, So. C/DT Alan Orona, Fr. FB/LB Jonathan Corrales.

Tyrone has two open dates on their schedule as Goodwell no longer has a football program and joins with Texhoma and Forgan closed out their football program the year before. Tyrone gains former rival Turpin on the schedule after Turpin moved to 8 man.

The Bobcats were featured during the Wednesday morning Sportsguys. Click on the audio icon to hear the interview.
