Saints Sweep Hutch

The Seward County Saints held to form Friday. For the fourth straight weekend, the Saints sweep an opponent in the first day of a series. Friday afternoon, the Saints beat Hutchinson (8-16, 4-10) 2-0 and 5-3 at Brent Gould Field. Seward is 12-6 in the Jayhawk West and 18-19 overall.

In game one, Tyler Wiedenfeld (7-2) pitched the distance in the 2-0 win. Wiedenfeld struck out four and produced 12 ground ball outs meaning 16 of 21 outs didn’t make it out of the infield. Bret Lewis provided a two RBI single in the fourth.

In game two, Austin King (4-2) pitched all nine innings in a 5-3 win. The Blue Dragons scored one in the first and two in the second to lead until the seventh when the Saints scored a run to tie it. Seward scored to in the eighth to take the lead. Jacob Fuller was 3-5 with two RBI’s and Troy Owen was 3-5.

The Saints host Hutchinson for a double header Saturday at Brent Gould Field at 2. Both games air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
