South Wins Tight Game in Tournament Opener

Liberal fought hard but lost a 3-2 game to Wichita South at the Wichita South Titan Classic Wednesday afternoon.

This was a 1-1 tie at halftime with the Titans scoring at the 33:30 mark before Liberal tied it 13 seconds later. Freshman Carolina Limon found the back of the net with an assist from Crystal Vela.

South took the lead in the second half at the 37:37 mark before Limon scored again at the 33:39 mark with an assist from Amelia Juarez. South broke Liberal’s hearts with a goal with 30 seconds remaining.

Liberal had 11 shots on goal and Magali Vazquez had six saves in goal.

The 1-1 Redskins face the Wichita Southeast Buffaloes Friday at 4 p.m. at the Wichita South Titan Classic.
